The sky above us, in low orbit, is full of space junk, and they are adding more each year. Most of that space junk will eventually slip into a lower orbit, then fall back into the Earth’s atmosphere, appearing as a meteor as it burns up, coming back into our oxygen atmosphere. Since 75% of the Earth’s surface area is ocean, there is little likelihood that any person will get hit by a meteorite remnant, but that is a possibility. Also, in low orbit around planet Earth, there are information transmission satellites, which provide us with weather information, telephone conversations, military spy information, geographic topography and ocean depth measurements. These satellites, plus the transoceanic cables that connect the continents, allow us to have telephone and internet communication with each other, around the globe. Our nation‘s leader can speak to any other nation’s leader, any day. We have become one world, tied together with these space communication devices. We have all become neighbors.
We need to start treating all other humans and nations as our neighbors and friends, not our enemies. My neighbors are my friends. When they are in trouble, I take care of them. When I am in trouble, they take care of me. We cooperate with each other, to make our neighborhood a better place to live. We now need to practice what we preach, on a worldwide scale. We need to treat all other people, and all other nations, as our neighbors, with deep respect, so we can solve problems together, to our mutual benefit.
That mutual cooperation of nations will be impossible to achieve, if we are guided by the mythology of our Abrahamic religions. Each of those religions has a highly moral code at one pole, but each of those religions, at the other end, has a vindictive pole, which teaches violent reprisal and punishments if you do not believe in that particular religion’s mythology. Judaism preaches that their imaginary God gave them this land of Canaan, and that they have a divine right to occupy this land. They also believe that this imagined God told them that they were the chosen race. Judaism has, by its imaginary mythology, a built-in superiority complex and imagined divine right to take this land by violence, as much as needed, to occupy this land. Christianity has a lovely moral pole. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It also has a violent pole, preaching torture for those who do not believe in Christianity. Islam is, at one pole, the kindest of the Abrahamic religions, preaching that its followers must take care of the cripple, the orphan, the divorced woman, the poor, the traveler in need. At the other pole, Islam is the most violent toward those who do not believe in their religion. Muhammad exhorts his followers to behead or cut off the hands and feet of disbelievers in Islam. Democracy and these religions are incompatible, in their current form. The United States is dropping fifteen-ton bombs on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Israel is committing flagrant genocide in Gaza, and Islamists are beheading journalists.
Donald Trump does not understand that he cannot establish a Christian nation without that nation becoming incompatible with democracy. In our case our democracy has failed under the onslaught of a Supreme Court which makes unconstitutional decisions, the filibuster rule in the United States Senate, which allows the minority to decide what legislation the Senate is able to pass, an electoral college which allows 48 States to give all their votes to the candidate in their state with the most votes, and the voucher system in fourteen states which allows parents to send their children to schools which teach religion and have the state pay for it, taking money away from the public schools, which teach diversity. (Segregation has returned.)
It is an appalling defeat of democracy when the current Supreme Court does not obey the wise edict of our nation’s founders, that there should be complete separation for this government both of and from any religion. Democracy has failed when a majority vote in both the United States Senate, and House of Representatives, does not decide issues. Democracy has failed when religion is being taught in schools at the expense of that State. All federal money which supports those voucher systems should be withdrawn from those states. Democracy has failed when the electoral college takes votes cast for one candidate away from those voters and gives those votes to candidates for whom those citizens did not cast their votes.
Donald Trump does not understand that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, with the support and encouragement of the United States. He does not understand that we should stop supporting Israel, and instead support Palestinians and Ukraine in every way we can. Donald Trump does not understand that anyone who demonstrates in favor of Palestinians is fighting for justice, and is not a terrorist. First, the Palestinians had their land taken away from them by Israeli zealots, to establish the State of Israel in 1948, and now more of it is being taken away from them.
Donald Trump does not understand that the Judeo-Christian anthropomorphic God was the product of human imagination, forming a deity that had the features of a human, was personally interested in their welfare, told them they were the chosen race, and gave them a covenant to take the land of Canaan. They created, in their imagination, a deity who made decrees that were all to the benefit of the Jews. The Hebrews needed to inflate their own egos. That was their mythology, not fact. The Israelites had no right to take that land in centuries past and had no right to take that land away from Palestinians in the twentieth century. They have no right to extend their rapacious unethical occupation of that land to adjacent lands, based on that mythology.
Donald Trump believes in that Judeo-Christian mythology. Donald Trump is not alone in his deluded belief in that mythology. Multiple millions of people, around the globe, have been seduced by the promise of a great deity who is looking out for their personal best interest, and the promise of an afterlife filled with peace, bliss and happiness. Multiple millions of people, around the surface of planet Earth, have accepted the concept of imagined Divine right as a legal right. It is not.
Donald Trump is a deluded man, making deluded violent decisions. I pray that he may at some time in the future, develop wisdom, and learn to treat other people with deep respect, as his friends and neighbors.
Sure, Adolph Hitler was an egotistic megalomaniac, who could only be stopped by someone who was stronger than his forces. Who is going to rise up to stop Donald Trump? I do not know. I see us heading into World War III, and do not know how to stop it. This time, Donald Trump will be the evil dictator, and we will be the evil nation.
I have profound sadness, deep in my soul.
